The RUTS International Collaboration Camp 2025: Marine Endangered Animals Camp

The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Rajamangala University of Technology Srivijaya (RMUTSV), in collaboration with the Institute of Natural Resources and Environment, the Faculty of Science and Fisheries Technology, and the International Affairs Division of RMUTSV, organized the RUTS International Collaboration Camp 2025: Marine Endangered Animals Camp from December 13 to 15, 2024, at the RMUTSV Trang Campus.

The program featured discussions on topics such as endangered marine animals in Thailand, including stranding cases, rescue operations, and necropsy procedures for dugongs and sea turtles. It also covered the ecosystems and status of seagrass beds, educational field trips to dugong habitats and seagrass meadows around Koh Muk, Trang Province, and lectures on the genetic diversity of dugongs and other marine mammals in Thai waters. The event aimed to promote collaboration in marine endangered species conservation, educational partnerships, and cultural exchange.

Professor Dr. Suwat Thanyaros, RMUTSV President, presented certificates to participants. Assistant Professor Sithichok Chanyong, Vice President of the Trang Campus, presided over the opening ceremony. Other notable attendees included Assistant Professor Dr. Khwanhathai Jaipiam, Vice President of the Nakhon Si Thammarat Campus; Dr. Lamul Keyurin, Assistant to the President; Assistant Professor Dr. Prasert Thongnuni, Director of the Institute of Natural Resources and Environment; and Assistant Professor Dr. Teerawit Chantip, Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine. The event welcomed administrators, faculty members, staff, and students from veterinary faculties across the country, as well as students from the Faculty of Fisheries and Food Science, Universiti Malaysia Terengganu, totaling 120 participants.

The closing ceremony on December 15, 2024, was presided over by Assistant Professor Manoch Khamcharoen, Dean of the Faculty of Science and Fisheries Technology.
