The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Rajamangala University of Technology Srivijaya, conducted a study visit on stray dog population control at the Soi Dog Foundation on January 10, 2025.

This visit was led by Asst. Prof. Dr. Wipavee Saengsoi, along with fifth-year veterinary students enrolled in the Small Animal Reproductive Clinic Practice course. The purpose of the visit was to gain insights into the comprehensive processes of stray dog sterilization services at the Soi Dog Foundation’s sterilization unit in Cha-uat District, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province.

The students were given the opportunity to observe and learn about key procedures, including the intake of stray dogs, health assessments, sterilization surgeries, post-operative care, and other related management practices. This hands-on experience aimed to enhance the students’ knowledge and skills in animal population control, preparing them for their future veterinary careers.

Additionally, the visit fostered collaboration between academic institutions and the foundation, promoting sustainable solutions to the stray dog problem. The participants gained valuable knowledge and experience from the foundation’s dedicated team, who play a crucial role in controlling and caring for stray dog populations in the area.

This study visit is part of the curriculum development of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, RMUTSV, designed to produce veterinary graduates equipped with knowledge, skills, and a sense of responsibility towards animals and society.
